All Pyropanel
Fire Doors comply with the deemed to satisfy provisions of the Building
Code of Australia for Smoke Doors when fitted with smoke seals (Specification
C3.4).
However, only Life Safety Doors provided guaranteed smoke resistance.
Life Safety
Doors (LSDs) are doorsets which have smoke leakage certification
as tested to Australian Standards 1530.7, and which may also have
certified fire ratings as tested to Australian Standards 1530.4.
In recent years the demand for "smoke doors" has increased,
largely due to the proliferation of Fire Engineered buildings. In
many cases the doorset required by the Fire Engineer's design calls
for both smoke and fire resistance. Only Life Safety Doors offer
a tested and certified solution for smoke and smoke/fire applications
in both single and pair door combinations.

Designers are now able to choose doorset models
which offer 0, 30, or 60 minute fire resistance PLUS tested smoke leakage
rates to AS1530.7 or the requirements of the Building Code of Australia
2004, Specification C3.4, so known (tested) data can be inserted in to the
Fire Engineering model resulting in a higher level of confidence in the
final design. The selected doorset can be inserted by model number by the
Fire Engineer, resulting in the correct type of door leaf, frame and seals
being installed during construction.
Most Pyropanel Life Safety Doors also meet or exceed
the new BCA2004/2005 Part F5.5(b) requirement that all unit entry doors
in class 2 and 3 buildings must have a Rw of not less than 30. Please check
the details for the actual Rw or STC for each model.
How to specify
To choose the appropriate LSD for you application, firstly determine
the FRL required, then determine the smoke resistance required, and finally
the seal combination and acoustic rating required. Once you have determined
these requirements, click on the corresponding Door
Code below to down load the Pyropanel Tech Sheet for that door.
You can also download the various test certificates that provide
detailed smoke test results for the seal combination required. Alternatively
you can download the entire LSD product manual by clicking on the link in
the download section at the bottom of the page.
Eg: “Doors to be Pyropanel Life Safety
Door LSD-30-C/MS/EU or equally tested and certified”
Always specify that the door must be ‘equally
tested and certified’. Only this way will you be assured that the installed
door will meet the criteria that was originally required. If you do not
specify which seal combination is required, the default seal combination
will be supplied (see below).

the meeting stile of pair doors.
= Maximum door
size is 2400 x 1020 per leaf - check with individual Tech sheets for leakage
rates and appropriate door thickness to obtain desired fire rating.
