In a country that has a poor record for investment in research and development, Pyropanel is one company that has demonstrated how innovative solutions can win both sales and export markets.

Incorporated in 1976, the company has been responsible for the introduction of a wide range of passive fire protection products and systems to the Australian and overseas markets. Through the Pyropanel network, Pyropanel products are distributed throughout Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand. Further expansion into other Pacific regions is envisaged in the near future.

Pyropanel commenced business in the field of manufacturing commercial doors to fulfil a significant market need, and diversified its operation to the manufacturing of fire rated doorsets.

Pyropanel no longer manufacture fire doors as this is now undertaken by the Company's Licensees. Pyropanel is constantly developing new products and systems that will ultimately bear the company's name.

The Company dedicates 5% of its revenue to research and development, to meet both existing and emerging market requirements. Pyropanel's goal is to deliver simple, cost effective products and systems which will work for the life of the installation.


The sales and distribution of the Pyropanel range of products and systems is through appointed licensees who are leading fire protection companies in their own right. Currently there are over 30 licensees and distributors registered in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand.

Pyropanel conducts a conference to further its licensees' knowledge on the full range of products and their application in the field.

The conferences are well represented with delegates attending from all appointed licensees, as well as guests from allied industries who share their expertise and experience during the conference.


Pyropanel has now set the standards for the industry by producing superior products. Our design engineering team is skilled in solving problems in protection from fire and we accept any challenge. Pyropanel provides all the necessary technical and back-up support to all its licensees and extends this technical expertise to the specifiers, regulators and installers who come in contact with Pyropanel products.


The Pyropanel product range includes five 'World Firsts' in fire door technology. All products are tested to International Standards where required and are subject to further stringent tests if needed. The installation of our products is performed by specially trained staff to comply with the requirements set by relevant standards.

Australia and New Zealand have some of the most stringent building codes in the world. All Pyropanel products and systems are researched and developed in-house and are subjected to a pilot fire test at Pyropanel's laboratory to determine each product's performance capabilities. Once a prototype has been successfully pilot tested, it is submitted to an independent and internationally recognised testing laboratory where it is fire tested to industry standards.
